Mile Pace Chart for June (excluding workouts, tempos, pick ups and races):

I'm really happy the work that I put in this month. I was able to run on 28 out of 30 days, and I feel like I've finally got my heel issue under control as I've found some solutions to help manage it. My average mile pace increased slightly, but that is due to the fact that I took some easy slow runs instead of taking days off. I was also able to increase my average run length without much difficulty. I can feel my endurance getting better, and my track workouts in the second half of this month have been very promising. I did have a poor showing at my only race this month regardless of the fact that I won, but I don't think that is indicative of my progress. I feel like I am only 4-6 weeks and 5-10 pounds away from PR shape.

Mile Pace Chart for May (excluding workouts, tempos, pick ups and races):

This ended up being a much better training month than I anticipated. I was not expecting to run on 27 out of 31 days or that the average run length would be 10.5 miles. My training pace remained about the same from April, but considering that my number of runs and run length are way up month over month, increasing pace would not have been a good idea. I was also able to get in three track workouts and two races which is right in the 4-5 range of high intensity runs that I look for. As far as results, I made a huge improvement on my 5K performance this month. So, while I still have some issues to monitor while I try to progress my training, I am considering this month a success.

Mile Pace Chart for June (excluding workouts, tempos, pick ups and races):

Overall, not a bad start to my training, but it stings a bit to compare this to April of 2014 or 2013. Although my average miles per run are up from 2013, all of the other stats are down compared to the previous two years. On the upside, this is the earliest in the year that I have recorded a win since I started racing again in 2012. I also felt a bit better when I realized that, historically, April hasn't been a good month for me. In 2013, I only fit in 24 runs, and in 2014, I had 23. May is a different story though. I went 31 for 31 in both 2013 and 2014. I understand that I won't be able to do it again this year, but I am hoping to start progressing my training in May.

Overall, things could have gone much worse this month, but it definitely felt like a step backward. I had to take 5 days off from running, averaged fewer miles per run, averaged a slower mile pace on training runs, only got in 1 workout, and missed a race I had been planning on running. The obviously highlight was a win at the JPM CC though.
